“The Raccoon” by me & Joseph…(will be smothered in a concrete mix later)…

"The Raccoon" by me & Joseph...not finished yet but looking good!

Bluffs gallery: Picked up my painting “Blooming Lilies” today from Bluffs…Tim, the projects manager told me it got several compliments & was viewed by politicians local to the area…I am thrilled with Bluffs as a gallery & the greater Scarborough Arts group as well…Professional treatment, polite people, nice setting, good prices- it’s grass roots & very sophisticated at the same time, the way grass roots things tend to be…

Driving home in the rain: Was thinking of all those people who really want to pay to play with a vanity gallery…Here’s my thought- if you absolutely Have to pay because you really want to go that route, then tell the vanity gallery to take their share AFTER the show is down, from the first couple of paintings or works of art that sell…So make the deal the first two paintings say at $500 dollars apiece go straight to covering that “fee” & then the rest of the sales get split at your commission split…This means that if nothing sells you don’t pay them anything…If two works sell they get their thou & you get nothing…After two (or $1000), you both get a cut…It really angers me when an artist pays to show, sells nothing, & the gallery still gets paid…It’s not exactly kosher to give the gallery a fee at all, but if you must, then tell them to take their fee out of sales, & they will get their fee that way…

More driving thoughts: The mercury levels in the air in Scarborough near the lake are so high it is palpable…Mercury comes from the burning of dry sewage…There is a sewage treatment plant called Highland Creek that blows mercury down to the lake there…Symptoms of mercury poisoning are memory loss & osteoporosis & bones breaking, among a few other symptoms…Toenail fungus is a symptom…Parkinson’s disease is a symptom…Mercury is airborne poop…The way to get mercury out of your system is to bath in magnesium sulfate otherwise known as epsom salts…Magnesium offsets mercury which likes to gather in your gallbladder…You can clean a building with epsom salts too- both inside & out, since mercury sticks like crazy to buildings & doesn’t biodegrade…(Don’t overdo the magnesium either, it has its own problems too)…

Notes from the bar: Three times there were incidents at our local bar…Just in the past month…But what I noticed was the colour of the shirts…The first instance was a tall skinny white guy fighting with a short young black guy who was wearing a teal coloured shirt…The white guy used the “N” word …The second event was a yellow shirted violent drunk Metis man who was refused service & got angry & kept coming back to the bar to try to get served…The third instance was two small pale white guys , one who used the “N” word again, this time while sitting watching the bar’s stand-up comedy show which happens for free on Saturday night’s at 9:30 pm…(Crown & Dragon, Yonge across the street from the Canadian Tire store at Davenport)…So I started thinking that a red shirt might mean that you are a dumb racist, that a yellow shirt meant that you were violent, & a teal (or blue) shirt meant that you were not the instigator in a fight…Not always, but that if you were a bartender, looking for danger signs, that the colour of a person’s shirt might help you prepare for danger or not…For some reason, people in bland coloured shirts don’t get into trouble- or is that just my perspective? (Also- it seems that slutty girls show up mostly in black-but that could just be that many girls wear black so that is maybe a coincidence)…?

About GroveCanada

Artist Statement: I like to push...Push the fold...Innovate...Figure out how to do something then figure out how to do it even better...I get bored once I accomplish something...I can’t seem to make multiples...Once it is done, it is done & I am not going to make another one...This can hurt profitability...But I feel the paradigm of repetitive production is obsolete...I see a future where pure intellectual innovation will be rewarded without the need to commercialize it somehow...I wonder about the Star Trek idea of a new culture where money is not the driving force...I live that future already... Bio: Sari is an optimist by nature, someone who always sees the sunny side of things, even if there is no sunny side really...She grew up with two wonderful parents & a great brother...Later she married the very best guy in the world, another artist named Joseph Grove...She likes art because it is for her a happy place to be...A place where joy can reside...So she decided to make art herself because that was the nicest thing she thought she could do for people’s lives...I’d tell you more about angst or strife or misery or struggling, but really, that was not the case...But perhaps, because I am Sari & I am writing this, my perception is warped by my extreme positivity...But, to tell you the truth, life has been good... p.s.You can read more about my credentials on my main website at http://www.grovecanada.ca ...But I have left a few things out, credential-wise... My feeling is:"By their fruits, ye shall know them" which is from the New Testament, Book of Mathew(7, 16-20)... So read my books & see if the fruit tastes good to you...I feel those are better credentials than telling you something on a resume... p.p.s. I am a Christian...Whatever that word means to you...
